Ceramic braces offer an attractive alternative to traditional metal braces. As they consist of subtle clear or tooth-coloured brackets with metal wires running through them, they are much less noticeable.
As with metal braces, ceramic brackets are fitted to the front of your teeth. The brackets are a similar size and shape to metal brackets but much more discreet in appearance, making them a popular choice if you feel self-conscious about wearing braces.
Ceramic braces may be an option for you if the irregularities of your teeth mean that you’re not a suitable candidate for Invisalign treatment. They also tend to be a more budget-friendly option than lingual braces, which are braces worn on the back of your teeth to make them invisible.
At The Campbell Clinic, we use Radiance ceramic braces by American Orthodontics. This cosmetic brace is nearly invisible. Each bracket is made from a single clear sapphire crystal that has been polished to be smooth to the touch. This makes the braces safe and comfortable to wear and, because sapphire is nearly as strong as diamond, they’re incredibly hard-wearing too. In fact, this is the strongest ceramic brace available. The Radiance ceramic brackets are also stain resistant and designed for easy removal at the end of your treatment.
Radiance braces usually need adjusting every six weeks and treatment will last between six to eighteen months, depending on your individual case.
